Rafter is a 283-unit apartment building built with quality concrete construction by more than 600 men and women. The 26-story building has unobstructed views in all directions. Featuring architectural details crafted by local makers, original art from local artists throughout, and amenity spaces inspired by nearby businesses, Rafter is a love letter to the northeast Minneapolis neighborhood in which it is located.

As part of Rafter’s commitment to collaborating with local makers, the development team created an Artist in Residence program which traded art created by two local artists in exchange for 12 months of free housing at Rafter. The Artist in Residence program was created as an innovative way to bring original art into the building (which features more than 90 commissioned pieces by 23 local makers) while freeing emerging artists from the burden of rent. The team also partnered with local business on the design of the amenity spaces and even the selection of the plants.  These local artists, makers and businesses added their unique touch to the building creating a resident experience that is woven into the fabric of the Northeast community.
